Chelsea are interested in signing another Brazilian wonderkid.

According to rumors, Chelsea’s prospects of signing wonderkid Gabriel Moscardo could be jeopardized by Nottingham Forest.

The Blues are in a race with Barcelona to capture the brilliant young Brazilian, but they risk missing out owing of Andrey Santos’ condition at Forest. Santos, a Brazilian starlet who joined Chelsea for £13 million earlier this year, was loaned out to rival Premier League club Forest in the summer to spend the season developing away from Stamford Bridge.

However, his loan term has not gone as planned, with the Chelsea star failing to play a single minute of Premier League football. According to the Spanish daily Sport, this could offer Barcelona an advantage in luring Moscardo away from Chelsea.

Giuliano Bertolucci, the same agent as Santos, represents the 18-year-old midfielder. And the report indicates that he and Moscardo may reconsider accepting Chelsea’s offer in light of Andrey’s performance at Chelsea thus far. Santos, 19, has played 90 minutes for Forest, although it was in an August 1-0 Carabao Cup loss to Burnley.

Chelsea are thought to be’monitoring his situation closely’ already, amid fears that he would be isolated at Forest. The contract is thought to have a break clause that allows Chelsea to recall the teenager in January.

Santos, on the other hand, will be hoping for some Premier League playing time when Forest travel to Roy Hodgson’s Crystal Palace this weekend, with Steve Cooper out with an injury.

The Forest manager has kept the Brazilian on the bench twice this season, but he may be obliged to use him with midfielders Ryan Yates, Nicolas Dominguez, and Danilo all ruled out due to injuries.

Meanwhile, the same Sport article claims that Moscardo’s agency has a close relationship with Barcelona’s sports director Deco, putting Chelsea at a disadvantage in their pursuit of him.

Moscardo, a defensive-minded midfielder, piqued the interest of several major European teams last season after getting into the Corinthians first squad and appearing 28 times despite being only 18 years old. His excellent form earned him a debut for the Brazilian under-23 team, and he could still end up in England or Spain when the transfer window reopens.
