After joining Celtic in the summer, Luis Palma has hardly had time to adjust to his new position; nonetheless, rumors of a summer transfer to Real Madrid are already rampant.

The Honduran winger, who had previously been linked to Rangers and was supposedly being scouted by Manchester United, moved to Celtic Park from Greek side Aris Thessaloniki in the closing weeks of the summer transfer season.

The 23-year-old’s time in Glasgow has been hectic so far. He scored a late goal against Motherwell to help the Hoops defeat the Fir Park team 2-1 on the road, and he briefly made a splash at Parkhead when he believed he had won against Lazio, but VAR took away his fame.

But despite his early success, there has already been links to some of Europe’s top clubs – with his agent, Paulo Hernandez, tipping him with a move to Real Madrid in the coming years – stating that he ‘can go as far as he wants.

Speaking to Honduran outlet Diez, Hernandez almost ran out of superlatives to describe his client. He said: “He [Palma] is a boy who I have known since he was 17. I have made a journey with him, and the credit goes to the footballer and his family.

“It makes me happy to see him debut in the Champions League as a starter. What Luis has achieved has a lot of merit. I imagine that it is also a source of pride for his surroundings and the country (Honduras).

“He is going to go as far as he wants. I remember that when (former coach) Mono Burgos said goodbye to Luis, he told him: ‘Luis, you are going to go as far as you want’.

“He is a very professional boy, he believes in his abilities, so he will go as far as he wants. At those levels it is the ability, we cannot forget that 18 months ago he was playing for (Honduran outfit) Vida and, last week, he made his debut in the Champions League.

“For Hondurans, it is one of the most important (transfers) in recent times. In economic terms, obviously Luis’s will be among the top four or five in the history of Honduran football.”

“In the same way as when some players arrived in the English Premier League. Wilson Palacios was good, Maynor Figueroa, Hendry Thomas too, Emilio in Scotland. That helped other players arrive, I think that Luis’s good performance is going to make the Honduran soccer player loved a little more.
