After the summer swap, Anthony Elanga claims the gap between United and Forest isn’t “that big.”
Anthony Elanga reminisced on his £15 million move to Nottingham Forest from Manchester United after nine years there.
After a quiet season at Old Trafford, when he was mostly restricted to a bench duty in Erik ten Hag’s first season, the 21-year-old was eager to get more game time.
Forest were quick to express their interest in the Carrington graduate, and having narrowly avoided relegation in the final parts of the 2022/2023 season, Steve Cooper was keen to revamp his squad ahead of another season in the top division.
Elanga was one of many new arrivals at the City Ground during the transfer window, and the Sweden international has already made eight Premier League appearances, scoring once and assisting once. His first goal came in a thrilling 1-0 win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in early September.
Elanga makes a comparison between United and Forest.
Elanga has compared his current club to his former, saying Fotballskanalen: “Nottingham [Forest] are still a great team historically.” They have two Champions League [European Cup] titles. So you might say I’ve moved from one large team to another. The change isn’t that significant.”
“We have started well in the league, winning some games, drawing some, and losing some,” he continued. However, it is a good team, a nice city, and a decent group of players. The season is long, and hopefully we will have a successful season.”
