T.J. Watt of the Steelers has been fined multiple times by the NFL.
Two large fines were levied on the Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker.
PITTSBURGH, — T.J. Watt of the Pittsburgh Steelers was fined twice by the NFL for his behavior during the team’s Week 5 victory over the Baltimore Ravens.
Watt was fined $13,659 by the NFL for pulling his helmet off after a game-winning sack of Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson. Watt was also penalized $11,473 on a play against wide receiver Zay Flowers in which Watt made contact with Flower’s helmet for the first time.
Watt was not penalized for either violation during the game, but the NFL fined him later. The action when he removed his helmet occurred after the play, so it would not have changed the outcome of the sack.
Regarding his hit on Flowers, a viral video of Watt hitting Flowers while attempting to make a catch has gone viral. Watt’s actions were intended to knock the ball out of the receiver’s hands, but it instead struck the receiver’s helmet.
Watt was the only Steeler punished this week, following a string of multiple-fine weeks for the team.
