Former Aberdeen goalkeeper turned Danish TV football analyst Peter Kjaer expressed respect for O’Riley’s exploits at Celtic, emphasizing his surprise at the midfielder’s absence from Denmark’s national squad.
Given O’Riley’s current trajectory and participation in the Champions League, Kjaer believes it is just a matter of time before he receives a senior call-up. “Of course, it’s tough for O’Riley to break in when you look at the names already there,” Kjaer said of the 22-year-old.
“At Brentford, you have Eriksen, Hjobjerg, Jensen and Norgaard, and Lindstrom at Napoli.” But because he’s young and plays for a good team, he’ll do it one day. He’s creating a name for himself at Celtic. It’s simply a matter of time. He’ll be in there in a few games or the next friendly, I believe. I’ve seen O’Riley play, and he’s a fantastic player. I know the national coach believes he’s fantastic.”
