5 goals in 7 games: 23-year-old is the one Ligue 1 player Nottingham Forest should try and sign.
Nottingham Forest has had some success in the transfer window, and they have a gem in Akor Adams who might thrive in Ligue 1. The Reds will keep searching the continent because they have had some success in the foreign market in recent seasons.
Adams has burst onto the scene in France during 2023/24. He signed for Montpellier from Lillestrom and is already looking like a player who could be set for a very bright future in the game.
The Reds will likely be in the market for another striker in the next 12 months. Although Taiwo Awoniyi is tied to a lengthy contract, Chris Wood and Divock Origi could both feasibly leave at the end of the season.
Who is Akor Adams?
It’s fair to say that he’s a bit of a new kid on the block when it comes to the major European leagues. He scored 16 goals in 56 appearances for Sogndal and then moved to Lillestrom where he bagged a further 28 times.
His form in Norway promoted Montpellier to part with £5.5 million to sign him in the summer. Now, he’s settled really well in France and he looks like he could have a really big future in the game.
So far during the 2023/24 campaign, he’s settled well at his new club. Adams has bagged five goals from just seven outings and he’s sitting just below Kylian Mbappe on the scoring charts in Ligue 1.
Adams could be quality at Forest
The Reds were keen on Che Adams from Southampton in the summer but perhaps it’s this Adams that makes more sense. January is likely to be a stretch for Forest to make their move given that Montpellier only signed him in the summer.
If he continues in this rich vein of form, however, clubs in bigger leagues will be taking notes. Forest will be in the market for a striker next summer and Adams makes a lot of sense.
In Awoniyi, the Nigerian player would have someone to help him settle and he would perhaps bring a different set of attributes to the table to help complement the 26-year-old’s game.
Nigerian legend Sunday Oliseh is a big fan of Adams. He called him ‘simply beautiful’ recently and it would appear that he’s set to become a poster boy of football in Nigeria if he carries on.
The 23-year-old is a confident individual and he’s taken the step up to Ligue 1 in his stride. Next for the youngster could be a Premier League move and Forest would be wise to keep tabs on Adams.
