Queens Park Rangers CEO Lee Hoos believes that head coach Gareth Ainsworth can turn things around and that the club will press on after the international break.

QPR had a disastrous start to the season and are currently third from bottom ahead of this weekend’s showdown with Huddersfield Town at Loftus Road, which will be crucial for both teams in their battle for survival.

Ainsworth has come under increasing pressure from supporters in recent weeks to improve QPR’s play, but the club has not won a game since a 2-0 away triumph against Middlesbrough in early September.

Indeed, the former Wycombe Wanderers midfielder guided QPR to their greatest winless stretch at home (11 games) in the club’s 141-year existence, a skid that will extend this weekend at home to the Terriers if Ainsworth’s side fails to earn all three points.

Nonetheless, CEO Lee Hoos is unconcerned about relegation and has backed Ainsworth to improve performances and outcomes. In an interview with The Athletic, Hoos stated [via Football League World]:

“We hired Gareth because he is adaptable, innovative, and willing to try new things.”

“He tried something new for Blackburn, but it didn’t work out.” But he’ll go back and address it, and he’s been doing some different things in training the last several weeks. I believe we will make significant progress.”

Former manager Michael Beale is interested in a return to QPR, according to journalist Alan Nixon on his exclusive Patreon, if the board decides to break ways with Ainsworth in the dugout.

There is no need to panic over QPR’s condition just yet. However, this weekend’s home game against Huddersfield will be crucial for Ainsworth and the team’s chances of climbing out of the relegation zone.

It will be fascinating to watch how long Hoos keeps his word if the outcomes continue to deteriorate.
