Done deal: The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed another outstanding rookie cornerback.
PITTSBURGH, — The Pittsburgh Steelers have added rookie fifth-round pick Darius Rush from the Kansas City Chiefs practice squad to their cornerback room. According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, they are also looking for a trade for Desmond King.
Rush was selected by the Indianapolis Colts in the 2023 NFL Draft but failed to make the 53-man roster. He was claimed by the Chiefs but was eventually waived and signed back to their practice squad.
The Steelers brought Rush in for a visit during the draft process, which should still be somewhat fresh in their memory. A former wide receiver, the South Carolina standout intercepted two passes and recorded 38 tackles in his final season with the Gamecocks.
