Celtic duo Kyogo Furuhashi and Reo Hatate have ‘hugely impressed’ Celtic manager Barry Ferguson.

Signed by Ange Postecoglou, the duo arrived at Celtic as unknowns, and according to Barry Ferguson, “what a find” they have been for the club.

They hooked up for Japan during their win over Tunisia last week, with Reo Hatate helping his club and national teammate who opened the scoring.

Kyogo Furuhashi has been a breath of fresh air for the Bhoys, slowly inscribing his name in the club’s annals.

The quick-thinking forward isn’t quite there yet, but at the age of 28, he’s already being compared to Henrik Larsson, or at least being said that he’s the best since the King donned the club’s colors.

Then there’s Reo Hatate, who, despite a sluggish start to the season, is finally finding his stride after signing a new contract.

Celtic's Kyogo Furuhashi and Reo Hatate snubbed by Japan again as 'level of league' addressed

“Two players you’d never heard of before,” Ferguson added. “But, to be honest, I’ve been very impressed with both of them.”

“Kyogo’s movement and goal-scoring ability.” Forward position.

“Hatate. He has everything you want in a midfielder, in my opinion. And John (Hartson) is correct about Hatate; it takes some time to get used to him, and I am sure Brendan Rodgers would have rather for him to go away and play for Japan.

“But two of them have been brilliant finds for Celtic, there is no doubt about that.”

Is there more level?

Kyogo and Hatate’s performances on the domestic stage are on display for all to witness.

But you get the impression they have another level to climb, which may come in the Champions League because the Bhoys are attempting to prove their worth in that aspect.

This month, the club will face crucial European opponents, beginning with Atletico Madrid next week, where Kyogo will look to add to his previous Champions League goal.
