Luton Town boss announces ‘nasty’ injury blow ahead of Nottingham Forest clash
When Luton Town plays Forest at the City Ground, Rob Edwards’ team will be missing a crucial defender.
This Saturday, Luton Town will play Nottingham Forest at the City Ground without defender Mads Andersen.
Prior to the international break, the Hatters center defender sustained an injury against Tottenham, and it is now evident how serious it is. It has been revealed by manager Rob Edwards that he will miss two months of work.
Edwards has a headache at the back against Forest because Andersen, who surprised everyone by moving from Barnsley this summer, is adjusting nicely to life in the Premier League. So far, he had made six appearances, four of which were starts.
Edwards affirmed in his pre-game press conference on Friday: “Unfortunately, he’s still injured. It’s unfortunate that he will be out for several months due to a severe hamstring injury.
It’s a real tragedy because he has a fantastic attitude and is a great professional. Every day he greets you with a smile, even though you can tell he’s frustrated right now. He promises to bounce back from this stronger than before.
“We want to make every effort to keep him engaged. He’s watching the tactical portions of the sessions outside, and we invite him to approach us to discuss the specifics of the gameplan, so he’s still keeping an eye on the ball and mentally prepared.
“It’s tough; I realize it’s a challenging aspect of football, but it’s still tough. He’s a strong boy, an excellent athlete, and a pro, so we weren’t really expecting this, but sometimes things work out differently than expected. We will assist him, and he will recover more fully.
Dan Potts and Gabe Osho, two defenders for Luton, will also be absent. Both of them have yet to appear in a game this season due to injury concerns.
Edwards is optimistic that his team will succeed in spite of this. “We’ve still got enough, we’re confident with what we have,” he stated.
“I don’t want any injuries, I’d like to have a full squad to pick from and then have some difficult decisions, but at the moment it’s almost like it picks itself.”
