Myles Garrett, the quarterback, now has influence over more than simply offensive linemen.

Myles Garrett attends a Cleveland Cavaliers game.

Myles Garrett is in the midst of a truly standout season. Through six games, the Cleveland Browns pass-rusher has 7.5 sacks and has already racked up 16 QB hits and three forced fumbles.

Two of those sacks and forced fumbles came last Sunday, when he wrecked the Indianapolis Colts offensive line, putting together a performance that has many calling Garrett the frontrunner for Defensive Player of the Year. While Garrett basks in the praise and the Browns’ fourth win, he has struck a deal elsewhere in Cleveland.

Garrett will also serve as an official Cavs ambassador. He has already acted like an ambassador of sorts by attending Cavaliers games in the past. He even suited up and warmed up with the team during the 2022 NBA Summer League.

He shocked a ton of people during the 2022 All-Star Celebrity Game, where he showed off his immense athleticism by throwing down jaw-dropping dunks.

Now, Garrett will be even more a part of the Cavaliers. Garrett signed a $125 million contract extension with the Browns in 2020, making this ownership jump a possibility. He’s technically not a free agent until 2027, but another huge extension is surely coming within the next couple of seasons.

The Cavaliers play their first game of the 2023-2024 NBA regular season on Wednesday night. They’ll face the Brooklyn Nets at home. Look for Garrett to possibly be in attendance.

Former Cleveland Browns quarterback Brady Quinn has made it clear that he is not a fan of Deshaun Watson. The Browns traded for Watson, hoping that he would become the face of their franchise, but he has faced backlash due to his off-field issues.

Quinn, who hosts a show on Fox Sports Radio, recently made some controversial comments about Watson. He said: “Everyone with a medical opinion has cleared Deshaun Watson. The situation is almost similar to a kid getting a $230 million trust fund. You ask them to get a job and they have no incentive to do it.”

Watson’s private quarterbacks coach, Quincy Avery, was quick to defend him on social media. He retweeted Quinn’s comments and said: “Brady, I’m gonna be real. You don’t know what the f*** you are talking bout, and sit behind a microphone gossiping like a little high school chick.”

The situation with Watson has been complicated. He served an 11-game suspension in 2022 and returned for the team’s final six games with mixed results. Many people attributed his struggles to rust. However, the start of the 2023 season has not been kind to Watson. He suffered a shoulder injury in Week 3 and has been ineffective in three straight games.

Many have criticized Watson’s performance

The hot and cold start to his Browns tenure has left him open to plenty of criticism. However, there are still many people who believe that he can turn things around. As one fan put it, “Deshaun has had a rough start in Cleveland, but he’s a talented quarterback and I think he can still be successful if he gets healthy and gets back to playing at his best.”

Despite the criticism, Watson remains focused on getting better and helping the Browns win. In a recent interview, he said, “I know that I haven’t played up to my potential so far this season, but I’m working hard every day to get better. I believe in myself and my teammates, and I know that we can turn things around.”

Only time will tell if Watson can live up to the expectations that come with being the face of a franchise. But one thing is for sure – he has a lot of people rooting for him.
