Owner of the Dallas Cowboys, Jerry Jones, is ‘envious’ of the success of the Texas Rangers.

The Texas Rangers are off to their first World Series in over a decade, and Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is hoping to replicate that success for his team.

For the first time since 2020, a team in the Dallas/Fort Worth area will compete for a championship.

The Texas Rangers, who play just across from the local darling Dallas Cowboys in Arlington, upset the defending World Series champion Houston Astros in the ALCS to advance to the Fall Classic for the first time since 2011. For an area that hasn’t seen a major title in over a decade, the Dallas/Fort Worth population is hoping that the Rangers can put an end to its championship drought.

The Cowboys are hoping to put an end to an either longer drought of their own, as they haven’t made it to the Super Bowl since the 1995 season. While Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is happy to see another team in the area compete for a title, he is feeling just a bit of jealousy over the Rangers’ success.

“I’m elated, but I’m envious,” Jones said on Thursday. “I assure the fans I have all the right feelings when they come out there and are successful.”

While Jones wants some of that success for his Cowboys, he is very happy to see the Rangers where they are now.

“Knowing how competitive that is, it’s inspirational,” Jones said. “Because I know where they’ve come from. And I know how hard they’ve been trying at it. Congratulations to everybody involved.”

Since their previous World Series appearance, the Rangers have gone through their own trials and tribulations. They only made the playoffs three times between 2011 and 2023, and failed to win a round each time. With a combination of smart drafting and big free agency pickups, Texas is finally on the verge of a championship once again.
