QPR Receive Boost Ahead Of Important Game For Gareth Ainsworth’s Future
The Foxes’ win over Sunderland on Tuesday was their 12th in 13 games in England’s second tier, and Enzo Maresca’s team appears poised to return to the Premier League at the first attempt.
Despite the fact that the 2023/24 season is still seven months away, Tony Mowbray of the Black Cats has projected that no one would be able to catch Leicester City.
“How talented are they? They are in the Premier League. I don’t think they’ll be caught. “I believe Leicester will win the Premier League,” Mowbray said.
The Foxes’ midweek triumph over Sunderland at the King Power Stadium was their eighth in a row. Maresca will be hoping his team can extend their unbeaten streak to nine games on Saturday at Loftus Road against QPR, who haven’t won a game since early September.
Leicester City, on the other hand, will have to do so without their outstanding midfielder Wilfred Ndidi. In his pre-match press conference, the Italian coach revealed that the Nigeria international will not travel with the rest of the group.
When asked if there were any absentees or injuries, Maresca responded [via club media]:
“Wilf is the only one. That appears to be more than just weariness, as we suspected at first, so he’ll have to stay out a little longer.
Days or weeks?
“It’s not a major issue; it’s just a minor muscular issue that we overlooked.” It’s nothing major, but I believe he’ll be away for a few days or weeks.”
Cesare Casadei, a Chelsea loanee, took Ndidi’s spot in the starting lineup on Tuesday as well. It is unknown when the 26-year-old will rejoin the team.
QPR are significant underdogs in tomorrow’s crucial match against Leicester City, which will determine Gareth Ainsworth’s future in charge. While the absence of Ndidi does not make QPR favorites, it does give them a greater chance than if Maresca played his finest midfielder.
A win for the London club would be huge for Ainsworth and would buy him more time as QPR manager, whilst a loss would be one of the final nails in his coffin.
