Jaguars Get Major News Before Steelers Game.
The Pittsburgh Steelers were waiting on the update.
PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Steelers were preparing as if Trevor Lawrence was playing for the Jacksonville Jaguars this week, but there was uncertainty as to whether or not he actually would. Due to a lingering knee injury, Lawrence was listed as questionable coming into the weekend but is expected to play, according to NFL Network’s James Palmer.
Lawrence is expected to wear a brace on his knee for support like he did last week. Jaguars reporter John Shipley told All Steelers earlier in the week that Lawrence “isn’t 100%, but I would guess he isn’t far off from it.”
This season, Lawrence has completed 67.4% of his passes for 1,643 yards and eight touchdowns to just three interceptions. He’s also rushed for 206 yards.
“I really like this skill set. You can see he’s a lot more comfortable now,” Steelers defensive coordinator Teryl Austin said on Lawrence. “You kind of watch him just drop back on some times and throw some outs, I mean, on a rope. He just makes some really good throws, has really good accuracy. He’s big. He knows how when the play breaks down, he can escape and create positive plays out of something that didn’t look so positive. I think he’s really progressing and coming into his own in his third year.”
Lawrence’s final injury update will come when the team releases the inactive list prior to kickoff. If he’s not on it, he’ll be set to play.
