Las Vegas Raiders slammed for wishing Jimmy Garoppolo a happy birthday on social media… just hours after dropping him for a rookie QB!

Las Vegas Raiders' Social Media Blunder: Birthday Wishes for Benched QB

  • Jimmy Garoppolo has been dropped in place of rookie Aidan O’Connell
  • Despite the change at QB, the Raiders still wished Jimmy G well on his birthday
  • Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo was wished a happy 32nd birthday on social media on Thursday… by the team that just hours earlier had benched him for his bad form.

Not lost on NFL fans, plenty took to social media in the aftermath and had a field day with the well wishes.

‘How nice. The Raiders are giving him the week off for his birthday,’ one person wrote.

  • Another fan replied to the message on X with a picture of a child looking sad in front of his birthday cake with lit candles.

It’s commonplace on social media that teams wish their players congratulations on any positive news.

  •  It might not be the time to properly celebrate however, two days after his head coach and general manager were fired, alongside him being demoted for rookie Aidan O’Connell.

That said, $45 million in guaranteed money to stand on the sidelines is a nice present.

The Raiders are 3-5 and are coming off two embarrassing losses in their last pair of games.

Las Vegas lost to the Detroit Lions on Monday night 26-14 with Garoppolo consistently missing receivers and doing little to be the catalyst for the offense.

Before that, the Raiders lost 30-12 to the Chicago Bears, who started former Division II quarterback Tyson Bagent in his NFL debut.

Even with all the chaos, the team remembered to wish him a happy birthday. Maybe that’s better than being forgotten all together.
