In terms of injuries, the New Orleans Saints are in a good spot ahead of their Week 9 game against the Chicago Bears.

Special teams linebacker Ty Summers is the only Saints player who was ruled out for Sunday’s game at the Superdome. Defensive tackle Malcolm Roach and running back Kendre Miller are both questionable after coming down with an illness mid-week.

Miller landed on the injury report for the first time Friday, and he didn’t participate in the session. Roach made a similar appearance Thursday, but he practiced in a limited capacity Friday.

Notably, starting offensive lineman James Hurst did not carry an injury designation Friday after he missed the last two games with a foot injury.

Hurst said Friday that he intends to return to the lineup at left guard, which would likely mean Andrus Peat will start his third consecutive game at left tackle.

Chicago will be without at least three regular starters, as offensive guard Nate Davis (ankle), safety Jaquan Brisker (concussion) and linebacker Tremaine Edmunds (knee) were all ruled out.

Quarterback Justin Fields (right thumb) is officially listed as doubtful for Sunday’s game, which came as a bit of a surprise after Bears coach Matt Eberflus said earlier in the week that rookie Tyson Bagent would get his third straight start in place of the injured Fields.

Speaking with Chicago media Friday, Eberflus didn’t completely rule out the possibility of Fields playing against the Saints, saying he would need to see “progression” from the young quarterback.

“We’ve got a mock game tomorrow and we’ll go from there,” Eberflus said, according to ESPN. “He’s healing up nicely, so that’s good.”
