5 first-rounders Packers should consider who won’t replace Jordan Love

Jordan Love delivers in opener, throws 3 TD passes as Packers beat Bears 38-20

The Green Bay Packers’ loss column is increasing by the week, and this team is accelerating toward a top-five draft pick.

If the season turns into a complete disaster and Green Bay lands one of the opening three selections, it could be quarterback time. Passing up on Caleb Williams or Drake Maye is a bold call, especially if Jordan Love shows no signs of progress.

However, let’s assume one of two things. Either the Packers are out of range for Williams or Maye, or they are satisfied with Love’s progress at season’s end and decide to build around him.

With a chance to pick early in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, which prospects could they turn to?

5. Brock Bowers, TE, Georgia

Drafting a tight end in the top 10 might sound like a bad idea, especially after the Packers used top-100 picks on Luke Musgrave and Tucker Kraft. However, Green Bay needs to add talent on offense wherever it can, and Georgia’s Brock Bowers can become a special player in the NFL.

Bowers often draws comparisons to All-Pro tight end George Kittle. Like Kittle, Bowers is a dominant receiver and mismatch in the middle of the field. He has played 37 games for Georgia since the start of the 2021 season, catching 160 passes for 2,391 yards and 24 touchdowns.

He is explosive, wins contested catches, adds yards after the catch, and can line up just about anywhere on offense. Bowers does a bit of everything.

Yes, the Packers love what they have in Musgrave, but pairing him with Bowers would give this offense an unstoppable duo at the position. Few teams have a true difference-maker at tight end; the Packers would potentially have two.

Bowers’ recovery from ankle surgery is something to monitor, but the Georgia tight end is regularly going in the top five of mock drafts, and for good reason. He has All-Pro potential in the NFL and would go a long way to fixing the Packers’ offensive woes.
