No Doubts: He Is Going To Win The Heisman Trophy.

Marvin Harrison Jr.’s Heisman Odds Appear to Crater After Dynamite Performance Against Michigan State

Marvin Harrison Jr.'s Heisman Odds Appear to Crater After Dynamite Performance Against Michigan State - Sports Illustrated

For the past few seasons, college football fans have known that Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. is one of the best players in the country.

However, it took the Buckeyes a few games to fully incorporate Harrison Jr. in 2023. He and quarterback Kyle McCord gradually became friends, and on Saturday evening, the top NFL prospect was finally able to detonate.

Harrison Jr. finished the Buckeyes’ game against Michigan State with seven catches for 149 yards and two receiving touchdowns, as well as a 19-yard end-around touchdown.

Bettors seemed to respond to Harrison Jr.’s outburst by driving his odds of winning the Heisman Trophy downward, with Timmy Hall of WBNS-FM in Columbus reporting a decrease from +1300 to +450 at one book in just a quarter.

Only four true wide receivers—Nebraska’s Johnny Rodgers in 1971, Notre Dame’s Tim Brown in ’87, Michigan’s Desmond Howard in ’91, and Alabama’s DeVonta Smith in 2020—have ever won college football’s highest honor.
