Disappointed Isaah Yeo pleads with Jarome Luai to stay with Panthers despite mammoth West Tigers deal
Complicated Deal: West Tigers deal is to be……
Penrith Panthers co-captain Isaah Yeo has pleaded with premiership teammate Jarome Luai to stick with the club, despite reportedly being offered a mammoth deal to join the West Tigers.
Luai has reportedly been offered $4.5 million over four years by the Tigers, with Yeo saying he understands why the five-eighth would consider the life-changing deal.
However, Luai’s three-time premiership teammate is of course eager for him to stick with the club in their quest to win a fourth consecutive flag.
Reports suggest the Panthers have offered Luai a $1.7million two-year-contract, but the money on offer from other clubs will be tough for the playmaker to turn down.
“He’s obviously got a big decision, he’s obviously got a young family now,” Yeo said on Friday.
Yeo understandably shuddered at the prospect of losing the 26-year-old, explaining how the entire group have pleaded their cases as to why he should stay with the reigning premiers.
“It would be very disappointing, obviously Ivan (Cleary, coach) has come out, but I think all the players have spoken about how much we want him to stay,” Yeo said.
“He’s a massive part of this team, the culture we’ve created here. He’s a wonderful driver of our culture and one of the big reasons we are where we are.
“I’d love him to stay and be a part of this for a long time yet, but we’ll see how we go.
It comes after Panthers director Greg Alexander emphatically rejected any chance of Luai being released early as the Tigers pursuit ramps up.
