Where Iowa football’s 2024 recruiting stands after pair of running back commitments
Iowa’s 2024 class remains ranked in Top 25
IOWA CITY — Iowa football’s 2024 recruiting class, while far from over, is starting to take shape.
The Hawkeyes are up to nine commitments in their 2024 recruiting class, which puts them ahead of schedule compared to other recent classes.
The 2023 class had seven commitments at this time last year, and the 2022 class had two commitments. The only other time Iowa had nine or more commitments at this point in the recruiting cycle in the last decade was with the 2020 recruiting class.
Iowa has done particularly well with in-state recruits in the 2024 class. Six of 247Sports’ top seven Iowans in the 2024 class have committed to the Hawkeyes. Logan-Magnolia’s Grant Brix, who remains undecided, is the one exception.
Iowa’s 2024 class, once in the top five after an early wave of in-state commitments, remains in the Top 25 of major recruiting sites’ rankings.
247Sports has Iowa ranked 17th, Rivals 19th and On3 20th.
A lot likely will change between now and next year’s signing periods, but the current rankings indicate a solid start for Iowa on the recruiting trail.
Here’s a rundown of the nine commitments (in reverse order of commitment date):
RB Brevin Doll
247Sports Composite rating: Three stars (56th-best athlete)
Hometown: Adel
Doll started this year with only one offer — Army — before his recruitment quickly gained momentum in the winter.
Kansas State, Oklahoma State, Iowa, Minnesota, Purdue, South Dakota, Princeton and Northern Iowa all offered him in a one-month span. Iowa State and Western Michigan joined the party in March.
Hometown: Saint John, Ind.
Indiana continues to be fruitful for the Hawkeyes on the recruiting trail. Williams is the fifth player in the three most recent classes — 2022, 2023 and 2024 — from the Hoosier State to pick the Hawkeyes.
Williams also held offers from Kent State, Eastern Michigan, Toledo, Northern Illinois, Western Michigan, Miami (Ohio) and others.
