The Pittsburgh Steelers will have to make a decision on Kenny Pickett in the coming years after two mediocre seasons under center.
The second-year quarterback out of Pittsburgh has completed just 62.6 percent of his passes since he was taken with the No. 20 pick and he’s thrown just as many touchdowns as he has interceptions over the past 25 games – 13.
This is all conjecture, as the Bears haven’t signaled they’d move on from Fields despite likely owning a top-five pick in the 2024 draft.
If Fields became available in a trade this upcoming offseason, the Steelers make an intriguing option.
Fields is an incredibly-dynamic player with the dual threat ability to attack defenses with his legs and with his arm.
But he hasn’t been able to put it together through his first three seasons in Chicago, and the Bears could easily draft his replacement at the top of the draft.
Acquiring Fields might be costly, but it would at least give the Steelers an option this offseason between two young quarterbacks.
Pickett hasn’t been good either, so perhaps another first-round pick would motivate him to improve.
For now, though, Pittsburgh will continue with Pickett for the remainder of the season and likely for at least another.
