The Tennessee Titans legend is finally starting to show signs of decline.
unday was a disaster for the Tennessee Titans. Less than a week after shocking the Miami Dolphins on the road on Monday Night Football, the two-tone blue fell at the hands of Houston Texans backup quarterback Case Keenum.
The loss eliminated Tennessee from playoff contention while helping a division rival get to 8-6. Many things went wrong for the Titans in the game, but it was a completely inept rushing attack that handicapped the offense. Tyjae Spears had a respectable 30 yards on 9 carries, but it was franchise legend Derrick Henry who got absolutely nothing going.
Derrick Henry’s historically bad game
His performance was so poor that it made NFL history. Literally no other player has ever had such an inefficient performance.
Henry finished the game with an unbelievable 9 rushing yards on 16 carries. He was even worse through the air, catching 4 passes for 1 yard.
Not all of it was his fault; the offensive line couldn’t block the Texans defensive line and every Henry reception came with a defender draped all over him. But even Henry will admit this was the worst game of his career.
We had already seen a bit of a shift in the Titans backfield this season, with Spears playing a big role as a rookie. With Henry turning 30 years old in January and free agency coming up for the veteran, these next three games could be the last we see of the King in Titans colors.
