Michigan football 2022 offseason player departure tracker
It’s natural once any season ends, you’re going to see a bevy of departures, whether it be because players are declaring for the NFL draft with eligibility still on the table, or others will seek playing time elsewhere after having entered the NCAA transfer portal.
Michigan football is no exception, and though it was a magical run into the postseason, that means some are in a better position than they had imagined, allowing them to begin their pro careers early, or others languished on the bench hoping for an opportunity.
That said, here is an on-running list of Wolverines who are departing the program. This is not counting those who have ran out of eligibility, such as Brad Hawkins, Josh Ross, or Andrew Vastardis.
Hutchinson sent a goodbye letter via social media, unsurprisingly announcing that he’s entering the 2022 NFL draft.
Ojabo is also declaring early, announcing that he’s departing for the 2022 NFL draft.
Perhaps something of a surprise, third-year defensive tackle Christopher Hinton announced that he’s declaring early and is entering the 2022 NFL draft.
One of the cornerstones of the 2020 recruiting class, Seldon struggled to see the field in his two years. He’s entered the NCAA transfer portal.
Solomon saw his role decrease, after being a special teams stalwart his first few years. Expected to be a VIPER under Don Brown, there was no position for him under Mike Macdonald. He entered the NCAA transfer portal and promptly committed to Arizona.
A late addition to the 2020 class, Warren never saw the field for the Wolverines for any meaningful snaps. He’s entered the NCAA transfer portal.
Johnson came to Ann Arbor as a QB-turned-WR, but found himself working out at cornerback this year, drawing high praise from some receivers in fall camp. Before the Capital One Orange Bowl, he was working out at receiver again, and has since entered the NCAA transfer portal.
Villari saw a handful of snaps, completing 1-of-3 passes for 9 yards and rushing 9 times for 35 yards. He’s entered the NCAA transfer portal.
A big get this past offseason via the NCAA transfer portal, Daylen Baldwin started the 2021 season injured, but still scored a touchdown in his first game. His role increased, and he started a few games, but it then decreased significantly as the season wore on. He announced for the NFL draft after the bowl game.
The former five-star announced he’s entering the 2022 NFL draft.
Also unsurprisingly, Hassan Haskins declared for the NFL draft.
