The Sixers Should Take Their Time with Joel Embiid
The Sixers should be patient with Joel Embiid.
The Sixers should take their time with Joel Embiid’s latest injury.
It’s no secret that injuries have been a major story in the career of the Embiid. Whether it be the foot injury that kept him out his first two NBA seasons, the orbital fracture or countless knee injuries it seems as if the Sixers superstar is always dealing with some kind of ailment. It makes sense though as someone who is 7’ tall and 280 lb should not be able to do the things that Embiid is able to do.
After coming off of a 50 point performance the night before, Embiid was seen on the ground in pain and holding his knee in Friday’s contest against the Hawks. The sight was a Sixers fan’s worst nightmare as losing Embiid will all but likely end any real hope the team has at a Championship.
Luckily, it seems as if Embiid is fine but while the Sixers and Embiid have both downplayed the severity of this injury over the weekend, there is no reason to push Embiid with the team’s upcoming schedule. In the next 10 days, the Sixers will play the Wizards, the Pistons twice, the Hornets and the Bulls. Four teams that they should have no issues beating those teams without Embiid.
From everything that the Sixers have said and done it seems as if Embiid will play in their next game against the Wizards, but to what extent remains to be seen. Let’s just take it easy and get through the regular season in one piece.
