D’Tigers star Nwora joins Toronto Raptors

D’Tigers star Jordan Nwora has joined the Toronto Raptors from Indiana Pacers on a three-year deal, The PUNCH reports.

The trade also saw Pacers offload Bruce Brown and concede three first-round draft picks to the Toronto Raptors in a deal that saw them complete a move for All-Star forward Pascal Siakam.

The 25-year-old, who joined the Pacers from Milwaukee Bucks in 2023, averaged 5.2 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 10.2 minutes across his 18 appearances before his departure.

Reacting to Nwora’s arrival, Toronto Raptors Vice-Chairman and President Masai Ujiri said, “This is a time of change for our team and we welcome Bruce, Jordan and Kira to the Raptors and to Toronto.

Born to a Nigerian father and American mother in Buffalo, New York, Nwora was picked in the second round (45th overall) by the Milwaukee Bucks in the 2020 NBA Draft.

Before the NBA, Nwora played three seasons at Louisville (2017-20), where he was a First Team All-ACC selection as a junior.

Nwora made history with D’Tigers team surpassing Ike Diogu’s scoring record of 31 points when he churned in 36 points against Mali during a 2019 FIBA World Cup qualifiers in Lagos to be the highest-scoring player for Nigeria in a game.

He also represented Nigeria at the 2019 FIBA World Cup in Beijing, China where he made two appearances totalling 11 points.

The former Milwaukee Bucks made his Olympic bow with D’Tigers in 2020 in Tokyo, Japan and was impressive as the team’s leading scorer with 21 points per game, and he drilled 12 of his 25 (48 per cent) attempts from behind the three-point line.
