Recruiting service On3 Sports has released their final class of 2024 rankings and several Miami signees have been given a bump.

Defensive end Marquise Lightfoot not only earned his 5th star, but also rose into the top 10. Defensive tackle Justin Scott came in right behind Lightfoot at number 11. Lightfoot and Scott are Miami’s two 5-Star signees according to On3’s rankings.

Another Hurricanes signee who earned a significant upgrade is quarterback Judd Anderson. Anderson earned his 4th star and comes in ranked 277th overall.

Edge Booker Pickett Jr, who performed well in two high school all star games this month, rose from 300th to 98th.

Running back Jordan Lyle is a 4-star on every recruiting site, but On3 has him ranked significantly higher than the rest at 37th overall, just five spots below the 5-star threshold.

The Hurricanes have the 5th ranked class in the country according to On3, 4th according to 247Sports, and 5th according to Rivals. On every service, the Hurricanes have the top class in the ACC and in the state of Florida.

The former American Heritage star opened his college career with a successful freshman season with the Hurricanes

The Miami Hurricanes had one of America’s most impactful freshman running backs in the 2023 season.

Mark Fletcher carried a team-high 105 times for 514 yards and five touchdowns. He averaged 4.9 yards per carry. The former American Heritage Plantation standout became Miami’s starter late in the year.

Pro Football Focus has ranked Fletcher third among the nation’s freshmen running backs with an 83.9 overall grade.

Fletcher finished behind West Virginia’s Jahiem White (89.1) and Minnesota’s Darius Taylor (87.4).

Fletcher’s 83.9 overall PFF grade was the highest among Miami’s running back room. He also led Miami’s backfield with an 84.9 rushing grade and led his position group with seven catches for 62 yards.

Fletcher suffered a foot injury during the Pinstripe Bowl against West Virginia and will not likely be available for spring football. The Hurricanes will hopefully see him healthy in time for the August 31st season opener at Florida.

Miami’s running back room is one of the strongest position groups on the team. Senior Henry Parrish Jr and sophomore Ajay Allen return this season. Along with Fletcher, they were three of the top four backs on the Canes in 2023.

Third-year sophomore TreVonte’ Citizen, who hasn’t played yet due to a serious knee injury suffered in 2022, can be an x-factor. The same can be said for redshirt freshman speedster Chris Johnson Jr. Miami has a pair of talented true freshman on the way in Jordan Lyle and Chris Wheatley-Humphrey. The Hurricanes have also added former Florida State RB Rodney Hill through the transfer portal.
