Philadelphia Eagles set to hire D-line coach Clint Hurtt as fans gasp ‘we’ve signed The Hulk’ after spotting his size
Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni is making wholesale changes following the team’s disappointing end to the NFL season.
Philadelphia began the campaign in red-hot form and was among the Super Bowl favorites after going 10-1 through 11 games.
But a total collapse saw them drop to 11-6 before losing in the Wild Card round to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Sirianni is looking to reboot his defensive line with the help of Hurtt, per the NFL Network.
Hurtt, 45, was previously an assistant coach for the Chicago Bears and the Seattle Seahawks.
He was defensive coordinator in Seattle last season and served as their D-line coach from 2017 to 2021.
Hailing from The Bronx in New York City, Hurtt stood 6-foot-5 and weighed 260 pounds in high school, per The Seattle Times.
He began his coaching career way back in 2003 with the University of Miami.
The Seahawks had just 34 sacks in 2021, but mustered 45 in 2022 and 47 in 2023 with Hurtt as defensive coordinator, per NBC.
Philly fans were keen to welcome their new coach to the organization – and couldn’t help but comment on his immense size.
One fan gasped, “Nah we hired the Hulk!”
Another said, “Put that bro on the line.”
A third added, “This dude looks like he could be half of their actual DLine.”
And a fourth wrote, “That’s a great hire.. as a defensive coordinator he didn’t excel but he’s a heck of a D-line coach.”
Karl Scott, who was an assistant to Hurtt in Seattle, is also expected to follow him to the Eagles, per NBC.
