Ex-Detroit Lions cornerback signs back with Green Bay Packers
ALLEN PARK — Corey Ballentine is back with the Green Bay Packers after the team signed the cornerback from their practice squad.
Ballentine is a five-year veteran who appeared in four games with the Detroit Lions in 2021. The journeyman cornerback also saw work returning kicks while in Detroit. He’s been with the Packers for the two years since.
The 27-year-old has also spent time with the New York Giants and New York Jets.
Ballentine has appeared in three games this year, including drawing a season-high 50 defensive reps against the Lions on Thursday Night Football.
Back around these parts, the Lions are dealing with injuries in their secondary. Offseason additions Emmanuel Moseley (ACL) and C.J. Gardner-Johnson (torn pectoral) are out of the picture. And corner Jerry Jacobs (knee) missed last week’s game.
Cam Sutton has been a rock-solid addition to the top cornerback spot. But the Lions could be looking to bolster their roster ahead of next week’s trade deadline, which is one of the top topics in this week’s episode of MLive’s Dungeon of Doom podcast:
