BREAKING: Philadelphia 76ers Reportedly Sign Recent Grizzlies Player
Kenneth Lofton Jr. recently became a free agent after getting waived by the Memphis Grizzlies.
On Saturday afternoon, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Lofton Jr. is signing a deal with the Philadelphia 76ers.
Wojnarowski also reported that the 76ers will waive Javonte Smart to make room on the roster for Lofton Jr.
Smart is in his second season in the NBA and appeared in one game for the 76ers.
Lofton Jr. has played two seasons in the NBA (all with the Grizzlies) and has career averages of 4.1 points and 1.7 rebounds per contest while shooting 48.5% from the field and 33.3% from the three-point range in 39 regular season games (he has also appeared in four NBA playoff games).
As for the 76ers, they are the third seed in the Eastern Conference with a 20-8 record in their first 28 games.
They are 8-2 over their last ten games and in the middle of a two-game winning streak.
Most recently, the 76ers defeated the Toronto Raptors by a score of 121-111.
Joel Embiid, Tobias Harris and Tyrese Maxey combined to score 97 points.
The 76ers will play their next game on Monday evening when they visit Jimmy Butler and the Miami Heat in Florida.
