Injury report: Chiefs mega-star acquire huge injury which he might not play for next match.

Super Bowl surprise? Chiefs to activate injured receiver as new weapon for Patrick Mahomes

The Chiefs stand on the precipice of establishing a new NFL dynasty. Patrick Mahomes will lead Kansas City into Allegiant Stadium on Sunday night for a Super Bowl rematch with the San Francisco 49ers — and if the Chiefs win, they will have lifted the Lombardi Trophy for a third time in only five seasons.

Mahomes has options aplenty in a Chiefs offense that has rounded into form during the playoffs, and Kansas City will be giving its star quarterback another one before kickoff on Sunday.

The Chiefs are activating Skyy Moore from injured reserve in a rare midweek personnel move. Moore, a second-year wideout, suffered a knee injury during Kansas City’s win over New England back in Week 15 and will be making his first postseason appearance of the 2023/24 campaign — on the biggest stage of all.

Kansas City hoped Moore would be available earlier in the playoffs, but he suffered a setback and was not able to play against the Buffalo Bills or the Baltimore Ravens. The former second-round draft pick finished the regular season with 244 receiving yards on 21 catches across 14 games, and he found the end zone during a win over the Jacksonville Jaguars back in September.

While the touchdown against the Jaguars was Moore’s first regular-season score, he has previously scored in the playoffs — in a Super Bowl, no less.

Moore hauled in a four-yard touchdown pass from Mahomes in the fourth quarter of Super Bowl LVII, a key moment that extended the Chiefs’ lead over the Philadelphia Eagles to 35-27. After Jalen Hurts led an Eagles touchdown drive in response, Harrison Butker kicked a game-winning field goal in the dying seconds to deliver Kansas City a Super Bowl win.
