Benji Marshall, the head coach of the Tigers, has decided to leave.

Fabio Carvalho’s first half thunderbolt wasn’t enough to earn Hull City three points in the battle of two play-off rivals at the MKM Stadium, as they were held to a 1-1 draw by West Brom.

A tight first half was opened up 10 minutes from half-time when Carvalho’s effort from distance went straight through goalkeeper Alex Palmer and into the net. Despite looking comfortable, City gifted Albion an equaliser when they failed to deal with a corner eight minutes later, and Darnell Furlong turned in.

Both sides hit the post in the closing stages, but neither side were able to fashion a winner and both will probably take the point in their respective quests for the play-offs.

Ryan Giles: A solid display from the Luton loanee, tried to get forward when he could in a game where Albion made it tough to get in behind. 6/10

Jacob Greaves: Terrific covering header in the early stages and kept that going in the second with a belting one on Wallace when he was about to pull the trigger. Barely put a foot wrong all afternoon, another fine afternoon. 8/10

Alfie Jones: A couple of ropey moments early on and had to be bailed out by Graeves, but regrouped and showed his quality thereafter. 7/10

Lewie Coyle: Another dependable showing from City’s skipper. Up and down all afternoon never stopped running and battling for the cause. 7/10

Tyler Morton: Looked a yard off it in the first half and his easy giveaway of possession for the Albion goal summed up a difficult first period. Not his best day, but battled through it to his credit. 6/10

Jean Michael Seri: Received a standing ovation before the game as he came out to greet the crowd, which was a wonderful moment. Came close with a clever clip at the start of the second half. 6.5/10

Anass Zaroury: Had City’s first shot in anger in a quiet first period, saw bits of the ball throughout but probably wasn’t as involved as he, or his manager, would have liked. 6/10

Jaden Philogene: Did some good defensive work in a tight first half, one moment in particular to help out Jones. Often on the periphery of the game before rattling the post 10 minutes from time. 6/10

Omur Abdulkadir: A couple of nice touches in the first half and again in the second as he tried to knit play together. A decent full home debut. 6/10

Fabio Carvalho: Rattled in the opener from 25 yards, and it was nice to see him have a go when things opened up.
