Las Vegas Raiders Show Genuine Interest In Trading With Chicago Bears For QB Justin Fields
Amid ongoing speculation regarding potential trades for Chicago Bears’ quarterback Justin Fields, the Las Vegas Raiders have officially confirmed their interest in exploring a deal for the talented young player.
The Las Vegas Raiders, led by General Manager Tom Telesco, are reportedly considering a move for Fields.
Telesco, who assumed the general manager role on January 23, is reportedly eager to secure a prominent name at the quarterback position. The recent hiring of former Bears offensive coordinator Luke Getsy by the Raiders is seen as a factor that could ease Fields’ transition to Las Vegas.
Fields, who faced challenges in his development as a passer during his third year as the Bears’ starter, saw Getsy dismissed following the 2023 season. Getsy, however, expressed admiration for Fields during his recent introductory press conference, hinting at a potential desire to continue working with the 24-year-old quarterback.
“Tremendous growth for Justin,” Getsy stated during the press conference, highlighting Fields’ work ethic and positive attributes.
Fields’ considerable experience and accomplishments make him a standout candidate for the Raiders, especially considering their current quarterback roster, which lacks the same level of expertise.
Aidan O’Connell, who took over as the Raiders’ starter towards the end of last season, does not match Fields’ experience and achievements.
If the Raiders intend to secure Fields, it is anticipated that a substantial draft asset will be required to facilitate the trade. Most trade projections suggest that a second-round pick would be the starting point for negotiations. With the Raiders holding the No. 44 overall selection, they seem well-positioned to engage in discussions for Fields.
However, competition for Fields’ services is expected to be fierce. The Pittsburgh Steelers and the Atlanta Falcons, both potentially in the market for a promising young quarterback, possess second-round picks that could offer similar value to the Chicago Bears.
