Rams should sign Odell Beckham Jr., a receiver for the Ravens.

It appears that everyone agrees that the Los Angeles Rams are ahead of schedule, even if free agency doesn’t begin for another several days. General manager Les Snead was starting his roster “remodel” at this time last summer, clearing the Rams of several of their best players who were signed to longer contracts.

Based on Snead’s previous remarks regarding his summer strategy, the Rams appear to be back in the hunt for a postseason berth. If so, it might prompt them to reunite with Odell Beckham Jr., a well-known figure.

I realize that, given Puka Nacua’s recent stellar rookie season, this seems like a drastic suggestion. But if you go back to 2021, you might say the same thing about the concept. At the time, Cooper Kupp was the Rams’ undisputed top wide receiver, and second-year wide receiver Van Jefferson was beginning to show promise.

Nevertheless, despite Jefferson’s breakthrough season, the Rams went ahead and signed Beckham as a “win-now” player after the player was cut by the Cleveland Browns.

The comparison isn’t fair because Beckham, who is currently 31 years old, is still working to recover from the ACL injury he sustained during the Rams’ victory over the Bengals in Super Bowl LIV. However, if the Rams’ objective is to win a Super Bowl once more, they would have a shared aim with Beckham.

Despite what seems to have been an overall good experience, Beckham is once again scheduled to be a free agent this offseason. In fact, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN recently reported that he is even “unlikely” to re-sign with the Baltimore Ravens.

This past season, Beckham participated in 14 of the Ravens’ 17 games, accumulating 565 yards and three touchdowns on 35 receptions. It’s not the same level of productivity as in the past, and Beckham might never get back to it. Nevertheless, for a Rams squad full of youthful talent, Beckham might provide invaluable knowledge and past rapport with quarterback Matthew Stafford.

If discussions are held, Beckham’s prior rapport with McVay, Snead, Stafford, and McVay may come in handy. The possible roadblock, though, would be money.

OverTheCap projects the Rams’ cap space this offseason to be $40 million. The Rams might decide not to pay Beckham to be the team’s third receiver if his one-year, $15 million contract from last offseason is any indication of his intentions for this season.
