Packers Signing Xavier McKinney to $68 Million Deal, Helps Set Safety Market for Bengals
CINCINNATI — The Green Bay Packers are signing Xavier McKinney to a four-year, $68 million contract. The deal includes $25 million in year one according to NFL Network.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter was the first to report the deal.
McKinney was considered the top safety in this year’s class. It’s a crowded group filled with proven talent, but the 24-year-old cashes in.
The Bengals are in the market for a safety, but were never expected to make a push for McKinney. The Eagles were also in on McKinney and could go after Justin Simmons or another top free agent safety.
