It’s a done deal: Bearcats sign another strong top-tier superstar

UC basketball programs recruit promising athletes in 2024 cycle

Cincinnati may not have signed the quantity of many other cycles in 2024, but the two signees they do have are sure to bring a lot of talent to the Queen City.

The men’s basketball team has two signees in the 2024 cycle: Tyler McKinley and Tyler Betsey.

McKinley is a four-star recruit and currently is ranked No. 78 in the ESPN Top 100. He is listed at 6’9, 220 pounds and plays the power forward position.

McKinley is athletic, a willing passer and has shown himself to be a defensive enforcer. Another thing that sticks out about McKinley is that he runs the floor well, which sets him up for easy alley-oops.

The Bearcat recruit attends Winton Woods High School here in Cincinnati. On Jan. 12, Winton Woods played Loveland High School and he dropped a career high of 32 points in the win. McKinley is having a great year for Winton Woods. His team is currently 9-1 and 8-0 in his conference. He also is the team leader in points with 19.7, rebounds with 12.7, assists with 5 per game, and 2 blocks per contest per MaxPreps.

Betsey is 6’8 185 pounds and he plays the small forward position. Betsey also is a four-star recruit and is currently ranked No. 49 in the ESPN Top 100. Betsey has a smooth calm game. He is a shooter; He prides himself on defense and he likes to run out in transition. The future Bearcat attends St. Thomas Moore in Windsor, Connecticut.

On Jan. 14, St. Thomas Moore played against Spire Academy, which featured Betsey dropping 32 points in an 82-75 victory. Not all his senior averages are recorded online, but he is showing that he can put the ball in the basketball by scoring 40 points against John Abbot. From the field he shot 16-22, adding 4 rebounds and 2 assists.

On the women’s side, they have a McDonald’s All-American nominee themselves with Chloe Mann. She’s a 5’9 four-star recruit who plays point guard. Mann attends Duncanville High School in Fort Worth Texas. Mann is a physical guard, and she likes to take on contact also the guard has a nice crossover to get by her defenders easily. On Jan. 9she played against Mansfield and dropped 15 points on 55% shooting.

These players will be big additions for the Bearcats for the next season. Betsey brings elite shooting, something the Bearcats needs more of, and he fits right in because he likes to run in transition and that is one of the Bearcats strengths this season. McKinley will bring post dominance. Mann could be the missing piece for the Bearcats women’s basketball team.
