Kentucky contacts Duke transfer TJ Power

Another day, another transfer that the Kentucky Wildcats have made contact with.

This time, it’s Duke Blue Devils forward TJ Power who has heard from Kentucky, according to 24/7 High School Hoops.

Other schools that’ve reached out include Arkansas, Miami, Notre Dame, Michigan, and BYU, among others.

A 5-star recruit in the class of 2023, Power signed with Duke over offers from North Carolina, Kansas, UCLA, USC, and Indiana, among many others. However, he joined a roster that already had Kyle Filipowski and Mark Mitchell occupying most of the frontcourt minutes, so Power rarely saw the floor as a true freshman.

For the season, the 6-foot-9, 216-pound Massachusetts native averaged 2.1 points and 0.7 rebounds in 6.7 minutes per game and 181 minutes across the entire season. He played nine total minutes in Duke’s four NCAA Tournament games, eight coming in the blowout win of James Madison.

Kentucky would probably want Power to come in and compete for playing time off the bench, potentially in a 7th/8th-man role. He’s just not someone you can bank on right now to play significant minutes for what hopes to be an NCAA Tournament team capable of making it past the first weekend.

One thing going for Power is he’s a big man who can stretch the floor. He attempted 42 3s last season, hitting 15 of them for a respectable 35.7% clip.
