Ravens agree to terms with ex-Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr.
The Odell Beckham Jr. saga has finally come to an end and there will be no reunion with the New York Giants.
On Sunday evening, Beckham agreed to terms on a one-year deal with the Baltimore Ravens. The contract could be worth up to $18 million.
The cost was obviously too rich for the Giants’ blood despite their consistent contact with Beckham this offseason. Co-owner John Mara had previously given his stamp of approval on an OBJ return provided general manager Joe Schoen could make it work.
“We certainly haven’t closed that door,” Mara said, via the New York Post. “That’s going to be up to Joe and Dabes.
“I certainly would be in favor of that if they can make it work. That’s always the trick.”
Ultimately, it was a trick that Schoen couldn’t pull out of his sleeve. The Giants were unlikely close to what the Ravens had offered, which was well above the market value set for wide receivers in free agency.
Assuming Beckham is able to reach the top-end value of his contract, he will be among the highest-paid wide receivers in football.
