Giants sign veteran wide receiver Miles Boykin
The New York Giants added a player to their receiving room on Tuesday.
New York officially signed wide receiver Miles Boykin, who spent the last two seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Baltimore Ravens drafted Boykin with the No. 93 pick in 2019 after he scored eight touchdowns as a senior at Notre Dame. Boykin tallied seven touchdowns in his first two NFL seasons, but he hasn’t found the end zone since.
After gaining 198 receiving yards in 2019 and 266 in 2020, Boykin caught his only target for six yards during his third and final season at Baltimore. He jumped ship to the team’s AFC North rival, who primarily used Boykin on special teams.
Boykin played just 121 snaps on Pittsburgh’s offense last season, but he competed in every game for the special teams unit. He registered five tackles and secured three of four targets for 17 yards.
Wide receiver isn’t a strength for the Giants. Darius Slayton led the NFL’s second-worst passing offense with 770 receiving yards last season.
Wan’Dale Robinson garnered a team-high 60 catches after missing most of his rookie season with an ACL tear, and Jalin Hyatt flashed some big-play potential despite still searching for his first career touchdown. The unit lost some depth behind those young contributors.
Parris Campbell joined the Philadelphia Eagles after one year with the Giants, and Sterling Shepard remains unsigned. Meanwhile, tight end Darren Waller may retire.
