Breaking: Crystal Palace closing in on a deal to sign £10m club’s Player of the Month.

Crystal Palace are set to be busy in the transfer market and are now reportedly very impressed by one target who’d only cost £10m.

There is plenty of work for Dougie Freedman to do this summer ahead of the 2024-25 season in order to give Oliver Glasner a squad capable of reaching his ambitious targets.

After a 10th-place finish this season, the only way should be up for Crystal Palace and to achieve this the squad needs to be bolstered as outside of the first 11 there’s a significant drop-off in quality.

It seems that signing number one is imminent with Chadi Riad expected to complete his medical this week.

But now reports in Belgium have disclosed that Palace have been charmed by one target.

Crystal Palace have been charmed by Raphael Onyedika’s performances

Heading into the transfer window, Palace seem to be targeting new midfield options with most being more on the budget side of things which points toward the fact it’s more likely a squad player the club wants.

Now according to a report by Gazet van Antwerpen, there is interest in Club Brugge’s midfielder Raphael Onyedika who is coming off an excellent campaign.

The report explains that Palace isn’t the only club to be charmed by the strength of Onyedika’s performances throughout the campaign which has just finished and he was even named as Brugge’s Player of the Month.

Previously it was reported that he’d likely cost a fee of around £10m, something which would be affordable for Palace this summer.

This comes after reports that John Textor could be set to sign Palace target Wilfred Ndidi for Lyon.

How good is Onyedika and where does he fit in for Oliver Glasner

Onyedika is a great talent and has been compared with Paul Pogba throughout his career, an excellent profile to have in the squad.

He’d fit in well alongside the current options in central midfield for Palace and given his cheap fee, he’d not be someone signed to displace Adam Wharton, Jefferson Lerma or Cheick Doucoure, rather to compliment them and improve the squad.

Most recently in the Belgian league Championship round, Onyedika scored three goals in nine games and achieved an average match rating of 7.59 as per FotMob.

Onyedika would be a great option for Palace in midfield and for the fee cited, he’d be a strong choice to strengthen the squad in midfield.
