The Houston Astros defeated the Baltimore Orioles 6-3 on Sunday night to split the four-game series after single home runs by Alex Bregman and Yainer Diaz on consecutive pitches in the seventh inning. Ramón Urías hit a three-run home run in the fifth inning to tie the game for the Orioles, but Bregman and Diaz’s home runs off Burch Smith (2-1) in the seventh inning gave Houston a 5-3 lead. Bregman, who has been having elbow problems, commented, “It felt like the best swing I’ve had since returning.” You obviously lose a little bit of your rhythm when you are absent for a while. In his return to the Astros, Héctor Neris (1-0) recorded four outs in his debut game.
