Sad News: Kentucky Wildcats fear the worst as Mark Pope announce Brandon Garrison injury update ahead of big road test versus Clemson

The Kentucky Wildcats were without star player Brandon Garrison in the last game against Georgia State. Head coach Mark Pope announced that he was kept out “due to soreness.” The only elaboration from Pope was, “He’s dealing with just a little bit of soreness. We just like to be as healthy as we can be before we put him on the floor again.” This is pretty ambiguous, and Kentucky fans have been waiting for a further update. He will be needed in the next two big games against Clemson and Gonzaga. So, what’s the latest on Garrison?

Is Brandon Garrison playing tonight versus Clemson?

All reports are that he is questionable to play tonight but will most likely suit up. We don’t have a lot of information yet, and Pope doesn’t have to disclose an injury since it’s a non-conference game. He can go up to game time without saying anything about Garrison’s availability. There are some signs and tea leaves that can be read.

After the Georgia State game, On3 talked with Amari Williams in this article, in which Williams said about Garrison, “I’m glad he’s going to be back this week with us. It’ll be good.” This was posted yesterday and shows optimism that he will suit up today.

However, sleuths will quickly point out that he didn’t make it into the video that the Kentucky men’s basketball X account posted today during the shoot-around. It doesn’t mean he wasn’t there as it was a quick video of the team getting ready to face Clemson. You can’t see all the players, but people looking for Garrison in that warm-up didn’t get to see him in the video.

The Kentucky Wildcats take on the Clemson Tigers on ESPN at 9:30 pm EST tonight. This will be their first true road test, and it will be helpful for Mark Pope and the Wildcats to have Garrison on the floor.
