# Texans’ Star Player, Laremy Tunsil, Insists on Departure, Rejects Contract Extension
In a shocking development, Houston Texans’ star left tackle, Laremy Tunsil, has informed the team that he intends to depart, rejecting a contract extension offer. The news comes after a two-hour meeting between Tunsil, Texans’ chairman and CEO, Cal McNair, and head coach, DeMeco Ryans.
According to sources, the meeting was held at the Texans’ facility, where McNair and Ryans presented Tunsil with a lucrative contract extension offer. However, Tunsil reportedly rejected the offer, citing his desire to explore other opportunities in the NFL.
“We respect Laremy’s decision and appreciate the contributions he has made to our team during his time here,” McNair said in a statement. “We wish him all the best in his future endeavors.”
Tunsil, a 28-year-old left tackle from Columbia, South Carolina, has been one of the Texans’ most dominant players since his arrival in 2019. A two-time Pro Bowl selection, Tunsil has been a cornerstone of the Texans’ offense, protecting the blind side of quarterback, C.J. Stroud.
The loss of Tunsil is a significant blow to the Texans’ offense, and it remains to be seen how the team will respond to his departure. However, Coach Ryans expressed confidence in the team’s ability to adapt and move forward.
“We have a talented roster and a strong coaching staff, and we’re confident that we can continue to compete at a high level despite Laremy’s departure,” Ryans said. “We wish him all the best and thank him for his contributions to our team.”
Tunsil’s decision to reject the contract extension offer and depart the Texans has sent shockwaves throughout the NFL, with many teams likely to pursue the talented left tackle in free agency.
As for Tunsil, he took to social media to express his gratitude to the Texans’ organization and fans, while also looking forward to the next chapter of his NFL career.
“I want to thank the McNair family, Coach Ryans, and the entire Texans organization for the opportunity to play for this great team,” Tunsil tweeted. “I also want to thank the amazing fans of Houston for their support and energy. I’m excited for the next chapter of my NFL journey and can’t wait to see what the future holds.”
