
Sheffield Wednesday Legend David Hirst Passes Away at 58

David Hirst, one of the most iconic figures in Sheffield Wednesday’s history, has sadly passed away at the age of [insert age].
The former striker, who wore the blue and white of the Owls with immense pride, is remembered for his powerful presence on the pitch, blistering pace, and clinical finishing. Hirst made over 350 appearances for Wednesday between 1986 and 1997, scoring more than 100 goals and becoming a fan favourite during one of the club’s most memorable eras.
A statement from Sheffield Wednesday FC said:

Born in Barnsley in 1967, Hirst began his career at Barnsley FC before moving to Hillsborough, where he cemented his legacy. He also earned caps for England, representing his country at the highest level.
Tributes have poured in from across the footballing world, with former teammates, coaches, and fans paying homage to a man who epitomised passion, loyalty, and talent.
Hirst is survived by his son George, who has followed in his father’s footsteps as a professional footballer.
