Report:The Bulldogs star player whose his future was unresolved is now…

Following Gus peace talks and an ugly contract standoff, the Bulldogs captain was allowed to return to training.

According to The Daily Telegraph, former Bulldogs club captain Raymond Faitala-Mariner has returned to training after being told to skip pre-season.

Cameron Ciraldo’s team returned for pre-season on Monday, but the 30-year-old was told his presence was not required due to an ongoing standoff.

Despite the fact that his current contract has two years remaining, the 30-year-old has been told he is free to negotiate with rivals.

He was also seen having a crisis meeting with Bulldogs supremo Phil Gould after club powerbrokers made their stance clear.

After Faitala-Mariner was told he wasn’t wanted at training, the player’s union intervened, contacting the lock about his treatment.

The Bulldogs have reportedly allowed him to return to training, but his future is still uncertain.

The remaining two years of his contract are reported to be worth $800,000, and he has yet to find a suitable club to take up his contract.

Super League clubs have reportedly approached Faitala-Mariner about signing him, but he is eager to stay in the NRL.
