This is betrayal: New Orleans Saints star player cry out as his contract will be terminated after refusing a pay cut

# Saints’ Star Player Feels Betrayed as Contract Termination Looms

New Orleans Saints’ star wide receiver, Michael Thomas, took to social media today to express his shock and disappointment after being informed that his contract with the team would be terminated. The reason? Thomas’ refusal to accept a pay cut.

Thomas, a 3-time Pro Bowl selection and 2-time First-Team All-Pro, has been one of the most dominant receivers in the NFL over the past few seasons. However, after suffering a series of injuries that limited his playing time, the Saints apparently felt that Thomas’ salary was no longer justified.

“I’m still trying to process the news I received from the Saints organization today,” Thomas wrote on Twitter. “After everything I’ve given to this team, to be asked to take a pay cut is not only insulting, but it’s also a betrayal of the trust I’ve placed in the organization.”

Thomas, who signed a 5-year, $96.25 million contract extension with the Saints in 2019, had been set to earn $17.5 million in base salary in 2023. However, with the Saints facing a tight salary cap situation, the team apparently felt that Thomas’ salary was too rich for their blood.

“I understand that the NFL is a business, and teams have to make tough decisions to stay competitive,” Thomas wrote. “But to ask me to take a pay cut after everything I’ve done for this team is just not right. I’ve given my heart and soul to this organization, and to be treated like this is just disappointing.”

The news of Thomas’ impending contract termination sent shockwaves throughout the NFL, with many of Thomas’ teammates and fellow players taking to social media to express their support for the star receiver.

“This is a dark day for the Saints organization,” wrote Saints’ quarterback, Derek Carr. “Michael Thomas is not only an incredible player, but he’s also a great teammate and leader. To lose him would be a huge blow to our team.”

As for Thomas, he’s not sure what the future holds, but he’s determined to prove himself all over again.

“I’m not sure what’s next for me, but I do know that I’m still one of the best receivers in the NFL,” Thomas wrote. “I’m going to continue to work hard, stay focused, and prove myself all over again. To the Saints organization, I want to say thank you for the opportunity to play for this great city and franchise. But to the fans, I want to say that I’m not done yet. I’m still going to give it my all, wherever I end up.”
