While the transfer portal has dominated headlines from Tuscaloosa, recent updates bring some positive news for the football program. Last week, former 2023 five-star recruit and Alabama running back Justice Haynes announced he was entering the transfer portal after spending a pair of seasons at Alabama. The good news? Fellow halfback Jam Miller told the media that he has no intentions of leaving the Crimson Tide and looks forward to competing for serious playing time as a lead back in 2025.

“Yeah, I’m staying,” Miller said. “I’m staying another year. I’m staying.” Rather than test the competitive waters of the NFL Draft, Miller’s expected return will not only boost the ‘Bama running back room moving forward but help him improve his stock.

Outside of dual-threat quarterback Jalen Milroe who led Alabama in rushing yards this fall, Miller served as the team’s second-leading rusher with 641 yards from scrimmage. Averaging a healthy 4.7 yards per carry, Miller also found the end zone seven times and even demonstrated his receiving capabilities at times during the season.

As a high school prospect, Miller was rated as a four-star recruit and the fourth running back nationally. He was also ranked as the 14th-best player in the state of Texas.

Expect the 5’10”, 218-pound ball carrier to get plenty of action as Alabama’s workhorse back in the ReliaQuest Bowl vs Michigan on New Year’s Eve.
