(WIS) COLUMBIA, S.C. In its final Citrus Bowl game of the season, South Carolina will take against an outstanding Illinois team. Despite the fact that players have been choosing not to participate in bowl games for the past ten years, a number of South Carolina starters have stated they will play.

Demetrius Knight Jr., a sixth-year linebacker, is one of several Gamecock freshmen who will participate in the Citrus Bowl on New Year’s Eve. For Knight and a few of his teammates, the problem extends beyond their personal lives.
Knight Jr. answered a question about his choice to participate in the Gamecocks’ final game on December 31 in a video that went viral in recent days.

As of Saturday, the only confirmed opt-out from South Carolina is All-American Kyle Kennard. Participation was confirmed by Tonka Hemingway, Debo Williams, Boogie Huntley, Nick Emmanwori, and Demetrius Knight Jr. According to Hemingway, he can’t wait to don the garnet and black once more and show off.
Even though South Carolina isn’t vying for the national championship, defeating the Fighting Illini would allow them to make history. With a victory, the Gamecocks can win ten games for just the fifth time since the program’s start in 1892.
