Boom! BYU Basketball Emerging as Standouts to Land 6-foot-9 power-forward As The Top Available 2025 recruit Is Reportedly Considering BYU Basketball

BYU basketball is becoming a powerhouse seemingly overnight. Since the acquisition of top player and hopeful number-one draft pick, AJ Dybantsa, the recruiting trail has only been heating up for Kevin Young and his NBA factory in Provo, Utah.

Nate Ament, fourth-rated player in the 2025 class and best uncommitted player, dove into his recruitment process with On3, and included the BYU Cougars on his list of mentionables, to the surprise of many.

Ament has drawn the eyes of many top programs across college basketball, as is customary for 5-stars like himself. The emblems of Notre Dame, Tennessee, Louisville, Texas, Kentucky, and many others flashed through his list of scholarship offers. The 6’9″ forward from Warrenton, Virginia is a hot commodity, and his pending decision remains the greatest mystery among his peers.

A quick glance at his 247 page may draw some skepticism from Cougar hopefuls, as the stretch-Y of BYU is nowhere to be found. No offer, no noted interest. So why is it that we believe coach Kevin Young’s recruiting team is still on the mind of another highly sought-after prospect?

First of all, 247 isn’t always entirely accurate. That’s not to disparage the site, as they’re often the go-to source for all things high school recruitment. But when AJ Dybantsa had been signed with the Cougars for weeks, their experts were dropping crystal ball predictions to BYU. All I’m saying is that we shouldn’t count out this program just because they’re absent from one website–there may be more to this than we understand.

In fact, BYU basketball has been involved in Ament’s recruitment for some time now, having already visited the forward this fall.

Is BYU a Dybantsa-level sure-thing to secure Ament’s commitment? I wouldn’t go nearly that far–you must have wandered off the trail a while ago. It’s worth noting, however, that the Cougars are still widely underestimated by the college basketball world, and the news of the threat to the status quo assembling in Provo holds more merit than many seem to believe.

Ament and Dybantsa would be a tremendous pairing at BYU, and easily the best freshman duo in the country on paper–a frontcourt version of Rutgers’ Bailey-Harper pairing. But now is not the time to buy a custom Ament jersey, so put your foam finger down and settle your fanaticism.

Take the news as it arrives, but we’ve got an interesting story ever-developing for BYU basketball.
