5-Star Recruit Tyler Baker Flips Commitment from Duke to North Carolina_
In a shocking turn of events, 5-star small forward Tyler Baker has announced that he is flipping his commitment from Duke University to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Baker, who is ranked as the No. 2 player in the 2025 recruiting class, had been committed to the Duke Blue Devils since August. However, after taking an official visit to Chapel Hill last weekend, Baker decided to make the switch to the Tar Heels.
“I’m thrilled to announce that I’m committing to the University of North Carolina,” Baker said in a statement. “The Tar Heels’ program is rich in tradition, and I’m excited to be a part of it.”
Baker’s commitment is a major coup for the Tar Heels, who are looking to rebuild their program under the leadership of head coach Hubert Davis.
“We’re ecstatic to welcome Tyler to the Tar Heel family,” Davis said. “He’s an incredibly talented player who will be a great fit for our program.”
Baker’s decision to flip his commitment from Duke to North Carolina is a significant blow to the Blue Devils’ recruiting efforts. Duke had been counting on Baker to be a key player in their 2025 recruiting class.
The Tar Heels, on the other hand, are getting a player who is widely regarded as one of the best in the country. Baker is a 6-foot-7 small forward who is known for his athleticism, scoring ability, and defensive prowess.
He is expected to make an immediate impact for the Tar Heels, who are looking to return to the top of the ACC standings in the near future.
