Just in: Brighton complete sale of unwanted striker

Brighton & Hove Albion have had a fantastic summer transfer window, and have responded to the loss of their top players by signing quality replacements. Since the summer, the new-look Seagull side have started the season in fine form, winning three

out of the first four games. They sit sixth in the table ahead of the international break. However, the transfer merry-go-round is not over yet. The English window is now closed, but there is still time for clubs to attract bids from overseas markets (depending on whether they remain open or not).

Brighton sell their out-of-favour striker Andi Zeqiri

A deal has been agreed between Brighton and Genk for the outgoing striker, according to Sussex Express. Having signed a contract with the club in 2020, Zeqiri has since fallen out of favour with the club. With Joao Pedro, the new signing, and the young Evan Ferguson, the Swiss international has fallen further behind the rest of the squad. Therefore, it will be a mutual

Unfortunately for the club, they will not be able to recoup the funds from Zeqiri’s sale as they are unable to sign any new players this summer, and even then the fee for him won’t be very high. The club will be looking to kick-start their Europa League campaign once the international break is over, so it will be important for Robert De Zerbi to have the correct squad depth and not have to include deadwood players in his rotation. In the end, I would say that the plan all summer was for the player to be sold. Unfortunately, Zeqiri will go down in history as a fluke signing. He has only managed one goal in his time with the club.
